Here are straight answers to the questions people ask most about AI Allowance — what it is, which AI assistants and cards work, how limits are enforced, and what happens if something goes wrong. If your question isn't here, get in touch and we'll add it.
What is AI Allowance?
AI Allowance is an app that lets you give your AI assistant a spending allowance. You set the limit, pick where it can shop, get an alert for every purchase, and can turn it off with one tap. Your AI pays with one-time card numbers, never your real card.
Can ChatGPT buy things for me?
Yes, once you connect ChatGPT to AI Allowance. ChatGPT can then ask for a one-time card number when it is ready to pay, and it only gets one if the purchase fits an allowance you set. ChatGPT never sees your real card number.
Can Claude make purchases?
Yes. Claude can connect to AI Allowance the same way and make purchases within the allowances you set. Each payment uses a one-time card number, and any purchase over your limit or at a store you didn't allow is declined.
How do I set a spending limit for my AI assistant?
Create an allowance in AI Allowance. Pick the AI, the amount, how often it resets (one time, weekly or monthly), the store types it can use, and an end date. You'll see a plain-English summary of the limit before you confirm it.
What happens if my AI tries to spend more than I allowed?
The purchase is declined. Visa and Mastercard enforce the limit, not the AI, so it can't be talked past. You'll see the attempt marked “Declined — over limit” in your activity, and you can raise the allowance if you choose.
Do I keep my credit card rewards?
Purchases are charged to the card you saved, so in most cases they earn rewards the same way your other purchases do. Rewards are decided by your card issuer, so check your card's terms for how it treats these payments.
Which cards work?
AI Allowance works with Visa and Mastercard. You save your own card once in our payment partner's secure form. Other card brands are not supported right now.
Can I use a debit card?
Many Visa and Mastercard debit cards work, but support depends on your bank and card type. Some prepaid or restricted cards may be declined when you try to save them. If your debit card doesn't work, try a credit card instead.
What if my AI buys the wrong thing?
First contact the store, as you would for any online order. Because purchases are made on your Visa or Mastercard, the normal card dispute protections from your card issuer apply. You can also pause the AI or tighten its allowance right away.
Can I stop my AI from spending right away?
Yes. Flip the AI's on/off switch on your dashboard, or press “Pause all AIs” in settings to stop every AI at once. Paused AIs can't get new card numbers until you turn them back on.
Do you store my card number?
No. Your full card number goes directly to our payment partner's secure form and never reaches our servers. We keep only a label like “Visa ending 4242”, the brand, the last four digits and a reference ID.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The Free plan covers 1 AI with 1 allowance and email alerts. The Personal plan is $4.99 a month or $39 a year and adds unlimited AIs and allowances, text alerts and “ask me first” approvals.
Is this a crypto product?
No. AI Allowance uses your normal Visa or Mastercard. There are no coins or digital currencies involved — just regular card payments with limits you control.
Who makes AI Allowance?
AI Allowance is built by Remergify. We're focused on making it simple and safe for everyday people to let their AI assistants handle small purchases.
